My Film Plot

A young teenage couple Louise and Arron are coming up to the 2 year anniversary. Arron plans a romantic dinner for them however previous to that day Louise had been told that the family were moving away and she has to break the news to Arron.
Arron is devastated and consults in his friends, Louise moves away and after about a month she realises that she is unable to keep a long distance relationship with Arron. Arron however is not ready to loose Louise, Arron and his friends decide that they will make a plan to win her back and to do this start by watching movies, as they watch more and more films they begin to hatch a plan thinking that the way to get Louise back is by doing what they do in the movies, they make several stages
1.       Send presents such as flowers chocolates balloons.
2.       Showing up unexpectedly
3.       Throwing a huge party and inviting her
4.       Write her a song
5.       Save her life (does something to have to save her )
Although Arron thinks this is romantic and will win Louise back little does he know that she is starting to fall for another guy in her new town. Arron’s friend joe is best friends with louise and she has told him this but he does not lnow whether or not he should tell arron he chooses not to.
After doing the 5 things to win louise back arron realises that she is not interested and is with another guy and tries to deal with it, arron finds it hard to get over louise, when louise comes to visit she realises how sad arron is and tries to talk to him about what went wrong.
In the end arron falls in love with a girl back home and louise stays with the guy back home, the pair remain close friends.

Audience Profile.

Age: 15+

Gender: Female

Occupation : School/ College/ Work

Likes:
Being with friends,
Going to the cinema,
Healthiness,
Shopping,
Out of the home activities such as bowling.

My target audience is the age 15 + I have chosen this age because it is the age that most start to get into films, another reason I have chosen this age is that there are less restrictions and the range of comedy can stretch to a further point.
I chose 15 + and not older like 18+ because 15 + is the age that people use cinema’s to arrange activities with friends as they are restricted on where they can go as a group at this age.

My Film poster

TAPS (using template from microsoft)

Star trek in relate to my film

Does the film have an exploitable theme?
My film genre of comedy will atract my target audience well and will be able to attract many others from outside the target audience.
Is the cast/director of interest?
Just like the film Startrek my film has a high count of blockbuster stars, this will also help to attract the audience and exite the public about the film.
Is it a genre movie?
Stratrek has its own individual genre of sci-fi and my film has a genre of romantic comedy.
Will reviews matter?
The film Startrk had many high rated views from both the public and from critics and studies show that this helped ring in people from outside the target audience, i think that by having a common genre it wouldn't matter as much as to wether or not the reviews were high however a good review would make the audience numbers higher.

WHAT-  The genre of my film is comedy, and i have chosen the sub genre of romance, i have chosen these as i believe they are high rated genres and would relate to both my target audience and others aswell. There are many similar types of films in this catagorie however i will asure that my film is unique and does not have a storyline that is to much like other past films that have been made in my genre. My film will be a mainstream film but will be shown in other cinamas no just like Startrek.
WHO – My target audience is females between the age of 15-25, i have chosen this range because i believe that it is the audience that would mainly go to the cinema and would be most likely to see a romantic comedy, the age that i have used here is similar to the age that is linked to startrek.
WHEN The film will be released in summer 2013, i have chosen summer because this is usually around the time that students will be off school/collage and both young adults and adults will have more time to see a film, The marketing will start 2 months prier to the film release.
HOW The film would be advertised similar to Startrek, Startrek used billardboards and tv/ radio/ cinema dvertisments to promote the films, they also used press junkets and celebrity interviews. My film will use all of the above to promote the film aswell as using social media such as facebook and twitter, by using these we will increase the audience amounts as most 15-25year olds use these routinley.

COMEDY FILM

MY FILM

My intentions are to make a film that fits in the genre of comedy.
My film will have a sub genre of romance and will be set for the target audience of 15 +.
The reason I think this will be a reasonable target audience is because at the age of 15 there is more content that you may add into the film and there are less restrictions.

WHAT IS THE GENRE ?

My chosen genre is Comedy, I have chosen this because comedy has a large audience and can be relaxing to watch with family or friends. Comedy films are one of the highest rated film genres in the world.
Although many people do like comedy’s the disadvantages may be that many find that comedy films are to alike and all have similar storylines, I would aim to create a story line that is yet to be discovered.

WHO ARE THE AUDIENCE ?

My target audience is the age 15 + I have chosen this age because it is the age that most start to get into films, another reason I have chosen this age is that there are less restrictions and the range of comedy can stretch to a further point.
I chose 15 + and not older like 18+ because 15 + is the age that people use cinema’s to arrange activities with friends as they are restricted on where they can go as a group at this age.

WHEN WILL THE FILM BE RELEASED ? WHY ?

The film would be released around summer (July/ August ) this is because at this time of the year school pupils and students are of school/college and have time to meet up with friends/family and go somewhere relaxing like the cinema.
Statistics show that around July and August in 2008, 81% of people said that the thing they were looking forward to the most was cinema going, and in summer 2010 more people went to the cinema than they went to places such as theme parks.

HOW MANY PRINTS WILL BE MADE ?
The film ‘Grown ups’ was released in 3534 cinemas in 39 different countries and was number 1 in the UK in their 2nd week.
My film would be released in all mainstream cinema’s in the UK and would expand to other countries after 1 or 2 weeks.

WHAT TYPE OF CINEMA'S WILL IT BE RELEASED IN ? WHY ?
I would release my film in a mainstream cinema because by doing this it would be open to a larger audience than if I released it into an independent cinema.
Independent cinemas have an average audience of 5.8 million per year where as mainstream cinemas have an average audience of 50 million per year.

The following information that you are about to see shows the box office details of 4 high rated romantic comedy’s, my aim is to use the details to make my film as successful as these 4 films were.

INFO TRAC EXERCISE FOR FILM STUDIES STUDENTS

We learnt to use InfoTrac, this is a programme of which you can research certain items that have been produced in magazines, newspapers, academic journals, within this i have learnt that an average comedy film will take in a profit of $2 billion.
we were set tasks through out the process, for example the first task we were set we had to search for kill bill in the first box and in the second box we had to search for Tarantino the results were given magazine articles that had both subject links attached to them.
By doing this we have learnt to catagorise our searches and find the articles that may contain contents that will become useful when planning and making our film.
